09 No New Things
Another easy breezy day for me.
Action Item 1: remove stored payments from everywhereI assume she means places where one buys THINGS. I have never stored my payment methods in a place like that - it seemed absurd to me. I do have payments stored elsewhere like:
- automatic bill payments (nice)
- grocery subscriptions (I love my free-trade gourmet coffee, bar soaps, and eco-friendly waterless laundry detergent strips being shipped to my door exactly when my family needs them)
- places that require a saved card (like Roku, but I have this locked with a pin I would have to look up if we wanted to make a digital purchase)
Action Item 2: use site blockers against tempting sites
This seems like more of a hassle for me than it'd be worth. At this point, I'm okay "window shopping" online (what a nice double entendre!) because it flexes my rational-spending-muscles.
Action Item 3: don't use layaway or installment services
Again, something I've never done and don't plan to do. We've been lucky enough to always have enough money for what we've needed. If there ever wasn't enough leftover for things we wanted, we just didn't buy it. I guess it was a good habit to get in because it has served us well.
I'm averse to debt naturally so even when we have had more traditional installment loans - like to have our broken bathroom renovated, student loans, or a car payment - we've paid off as much as we could as early as we could until we were free and clear. Now we only have a mortgage left.
Things I didn't buy today:
- special edition book....$30
TOTAL....$108
Success!
